Assignment

The assignment is part of an environmental project designed to remedy past liabilities and enhance the environmental and health and safety performance of the oil and gas company by setting high environmental standards, for long term sustainability of oil and gas operations.
 

Our role

Our main responsibility as ERM project partner was to assist and supervise the surface abandonment works for oil wells located on different field clusters across Romania. The role was to observe and document indications for contaminants during fieldworks, and to prepare a final report after completion of the field works.

Main activity was related to surface abandonment of wells for which subsurface abandonment operations have been already conducted, and include the following supervision objectives:
 

• Decommissioning and removal of structures and foundations of oil well elements

• Excavation of contaminated soil in case of hot spot encountered

• Soil sampling of identified contaminated area

• Daily reports as per contractor monitoring requirements

• Observe and document indication of contamination during field works

• Interpretation and evaluation of the analytical results against legal requirements

• Preparation of final documentation report and support the client in obtaining EPA permits and approvals.
