Assignment

Soil and groundwater contamination was assessed during Environmental Due Diligence at a former industrial facility in southern Romania, during a change in ownership of the asset.

The client commissioned multi stage environmental site investigations to be performed since former manufacturing building infrastructure had to be converted into a commercial facility, to ensure all potential liabilities were understood, and to confirm that the proposed operations would be done in an environmentally acceptable and sustainable manner.
 

Our role

The investor wanted to redevelop the former manufacturing plant as a retail and commercial center for the local community.

Our task, performing Phase I environmental site assessment, was to assess past and present land use practices, site operations and conditions, and to identify the potential presence of hazardous substances and soil and/or groundwater contamination at the site.

Subsequent stages of the project required detailed Phase II soil and groundwater sampling, scoped out further required delineation works, assisted for evaluation and cost of remedial options, and a preliminary risk assessment.
